Khamtanh Thadavong is working in the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Lao PDR with position of Deputy Director of the Department. He has been working there for more than 20 years in the field of agricultural planning, budgeting, rural development, agricultural statistics, agricultural marketing/ information, plant protection and food security in Lao PDR. He studied in the former of Soviet Union (Uzbekistan Republic) and obtained B.Sc. on agricultural economics in 1987, and obtained M.Sc. on rural development in 1999, Gottingen University, Germany. Recently, he joined with the team to conduct rice policy study in Lao PDR supported by World Bank and FAO. Regarding to ASEAN Food Security Policy, he was joined with ASEAN Task Force to develop the second phase of ASEAN Integrated Food Security (AIFS) Framework and Strategic Plan of Action on Food Security (SPA – FS) 2015-2020 and he is also as chairman of ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) for 2014–2015.
